Our Team

Dr. Thomas Parell

Dr. Parell (also known to his clients as “Doc Tom”) established his first of four veterinary practices in 1993, and he is now the primary veterinarian at our DARBY, MONTANA location.

He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and attended St. Benedict’s Prep School, following the footsteps of his three older brothers. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University & Dickinson College with a major in psychology and a minor in chemistry. It was after spending a day in a local veterinary clinic that he fell in love with veterinary medicine, which led him to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. Parell then went on to earn his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania - a school whose MBA program has been ranked No. 1 in the world.

He is a member of a number of veterinary associations including the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Montana Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).

Fittingly, Dr. Parell met his wife, Barbara, in a veterinary office before working together on a pig farming project. They have 5 children - two of whom are now veterinarians - and they spend much of their time in Indiana and Montana where they can fish, ski, enjoy photography, hike, and Dr. Parell can practice flying. Now that their children are grown, Dr. Parell and his wife share their home with their two dogs, Trapper (Hungarian Vizsla), and Sandy (Anatolian Shepherd) and a very independent Bengal cat named Bellatrix.

He went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.

He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) & the Central Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (CIVMA).

Dr. Jessica Cox (also known to her clients as “Doc Jess”)  joined the St. Francis' Pet Hospital team in 2007. She was born & raised central Indiana, where she attended Decatur Central High School & graduated valedictorian. Her love for animals began at an early age, much in part due to her own assortment of pets, including dogs, cats, reptiles, rabbits, & the like. Time spent on her extended family’s farm in Tennessee further sparked her interest, & after graduating high school she went on to earn her bachelor's in biology from Franklin College & her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) & the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA).

Dr. Cox resides in the Indianapolis area with her husband and pets. Her passions include running, traveling, hiking, biking, & spending time with family.

Dr. Earl Annable (a.k.a “Doc Earl”) was first drawn to veterinary medicine by his sincere love for animals & people alike.
