Veterinary Student Externship: Real World Veterinary Medicine with Housing!

St. Francis Pet Hospital is a muti-doctor/multi-clinic practice in Central Indiana. It consists of three separate veterinary clinics spread along a 20 mile stretch of Highway 67, just south of Indianapolis. These clinics offer a unique view of veterinary medicine because they represent three different demographics: rural, suburban and urban. Externs will have the opportunity to practice in all three settings as well as assist at an emergency clinic in the same area. If the extern has interest in learning more about business management and economics, the practice owner/veterinarian has an MBA from U-Penn and a passion for mentoring those who have an interest in practice ownership.

The practice focuses primarily on small animal medicine, but does have occasional exotic and hobby farm patients. All locations are well equipped with diagnostic technology and surgical tools. This means the extern will be exposed to the whole spectrum of medicine from everyday patient care, to challenging diagnostic cases, and complex surgeries.

Indianapolis was recently rated the number one city for young professionals. The city life is on par with all of the trending cities such as Austin, TX and Chicago, IL. There is also no shortage of places to spend time in the outdoors including multiple lakes, state forests and for the less adventurous, plenty of lovely city parks.

This externship will provide housing for the individual, as well as a vehicle to move between practices.

If interested in applying for an externship please email your resume and available dates to, subject: Student Externship.
