About Us

camby, martinsville IN veterinaryChoosing a veterinarian to care for your beloved pet can be a challenge. At St. Francis' Pet Hospital, we make your choice easy by making our patients and clients central to all we do. We practice veterinary medicine because we're dedicated to helping pets live long, happy lives. We strive to earn your trust with every visit by finding the best, most cost-effective ways to care for your pet.

Our History

Named for St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, St. Francis' Pet Hospital was founded in 1993 by Dr. Thomas Parell (known to patients as Dr. Tom). Its first location was in Indianapolis. In 1996 Dr. Parell started a second clinic in Centerton, and later purchased Mooresville Veterinary Hospital in Camby. Today our dedicated staff operates three convenient locations to best serve the needs of our clients. Our Camby and Indianapolis clinics primarily see cats and dogs, but are also equipped to treat pocket and exotic pets. Our Centerton clinic is on a working horse farm and while it's primary focus is small animal medicine, it is also equipped with a haul-in facility to treat horses and livestock.

No matter which location you choose, your pet will be in capable, loving, and compassionate hands at St. Francis' Pet Hospital.

Regular Pet Wellness Examinations

The key to your pet's lifetime wellness begins with the comprehensive wellness care offered by the caring staff at St. Francis' Pet Hospital. Our wellness programs include a nose-to-tail examination, vaccinations and a host of preventative treatments. We believe identifying medical issues before they become serious is the key to long-term good health, and keeping the lifetime cost of caring for your pet as low as possible.

Veterinary Medicine

If your pet becomes sick or injured, our veterinarians and staff are here to provide the compassionate, skilled veterinary care your pet needs and you want. We have a country vet feel with a science fiction level of medical, diagnostic and surgical care, including laser therapy, ultrasound, digital radiograph, and endoscopy. Our veterinarians are also well-trained in a variety of complex surgical procedures. For certain conditions, we may refer you to an area specialist.

Committed to You and Your Pet

When you bring your pet in to see us, we want you to feel confident your pet is receiving the best care possible. The veterinarians and staff at St. Francis' Pet Hospital know great veterinary care begins with taking the time to get to know you and your pet: it is a relationship we hope will last for many years. Our commitment doesn't end when you leave our hospital, which is why we also make sure you have the knowledge you need to provide the best possible care for your pet at home. We also offer house calls in certain circumstances when you cannot come to one of our clinic locations.

Community Involvement

St. Francis' Pet Hospital has deep roots in the community, with several veterinarians and staff members native to the area. That's why we're passionate about giving back to the community that has allowed us to thrive over the years. We have been chosen to perform spay and neuter demonstrations at the Indiana State Fair. We also conduct vaccination clinics to support the local 4-H club, allowing the club to buy agility and competition equipment and subsidize trips to pet-related events. We also work with the local humane society, as well as a feral cat trap, neuter and release program, and various rescue organizations.
